It's six o'clock in the morning. I turn over and hazily open my eyes to the familiar raging alarm that is once again, pulled me from what should of been a good nights rest.
It's piercing sensation growing louder and louder, and more intense with every pulsation. I would love to be able to reach over and shut this intruding alarm off, but because it is not within my control - I realize I am once again faced with another day of the alarming pain moving up my arms and legs.
You see this alarm has nothing to do with time or the necessity of starting my day. The alarm is the pain of arthritis, as it signals yet another daily battle while making an intrusive move joint-by-joint. I wonder where it will take up residence next - this most unwanted invader, determined to take the joy from each day.
My name is Nancy MacGranahan and I live in Pennsylvania. It all started when I was thirty-five years old and like a jack hammer, it would pound my hips, wrists and ankles for the next nineteen years.
